There

There is a book written and illustrated by Marie Lousie Fitzpatrick. It is about a little kid wondering if he will ever get “there”.

The boy wonders if he will ever get there. He asks how long it will take to get there. He doesn’t know if he will be tall or short. He wonders if everyone is going there. How will he get there. Can his friends come? Can he stop and pick the daises on the way? He think that he has to much to do today to start going there. He will start tommorw. Definetly.

I have a connection to this because sometimes I delay some of the stuff I have to do. Sometimes I will say that I will do it tommorow and wont do it until 2 days later. Sometimes it gets me in tight situations so I have been trying to do it less. Another conection I have is sometimes I don’t know when I’m done. Lots of the time I need to ask lots and lots of questions to make sure I’m done. I wonder if I will ever get there.

Wanted : The Perfect Pet

Wanted : The Perfect Pet is a book written and ilustrated by Fiona Robertson. This book is about a lonley boy who is wanting the perfect pet.

Henry is very lonley and has no one to play with. So one day when he sees an add in the paper for the perfect pet dog, he calls the number and awaits the arival of the dog. The dog finally shows up at his door and says “woof.” Henry is very exited and they go outside to play. The dog seems very odd. Eventually the ears and the tail fall off and its a duck. Henry is disapointed that its not a dog. But when the duck shows him all the things he can do he changes his mind and decided that he wants to keep the duck. Henry and the duck have lots of adventure together.

I have a connection to this. 3 years ago I got a great dane. We had 2 names to choose from. Me and my sister played odds and evens to see which name we would choose. She won and we choose the other name. I was sad but now, today I love the name and I am happy that we choose that name.

The Noisy Paint Box

The Noisy Paintbox is written by Barb Rossenstock and is about a boy who can hear art.

Vasya Kandinsky was a little boy that studied math and history, he practiced the piano  was perfectly polite. And when his family sent him to art classes, they expected him to pretty houses and flower. But as Vasya opened his paint box and began a tuning up for a symphony! And as he grew older, he continued pretty houses ato hear brilliant colors singing and see vibrant sounds dancing. But was Vasya brave enough to put aside his proper still lifes and portraits and paint music.

I can connect to this because when I draw I can hear the noises that the things would make. I can also sometimes feel the things that I draw. They feel like things that I have never felt before. Sometimes I dont even know what I draw but I can still feel and hear it.  All in all I think this is a great book and I can connect to this.

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind is a book writen by William Kam Kwamba and Bryan Mealer and illustrated by Elizabeth Zunon. The book is about a boy named William who’s family doesn’t have very much money. He is pulled out of school and they family has very little to eat. All because there is no rain. Withou rain there is no food. So William goes to the library one day. He finds some science books. In the book he sees a windmill. It can help make food and electricty. He takes pieces from the junkyard and builds a windmill. When he is done he puts it upright, connects the lightbulb to the wires, and it works. He created light.

I have a connection to this because I have built things that people said wouldn’t work, but I made them work anyway. Another connection that I have is that in movies people always have a master plan. People always say that it is never going to work. They say their crazy and they don’t know what their talking about. The character pays no mind. They just keep on working until they can get their plan done. They push through. They get their plan done and usually it works. This was definetly the case for William.

After The Fall: How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again

After The Fall is a book written and illustrated by Dan Santat. The book is about how Humpty Dumpty got back up again after his great fall.

After the fall miracularly Humpty got back up again. He was put back together with glue and bandages. But some things couldn’t be fixed by glue and bandages. Humpty was afriad of hights. He couldn’t go back on the wall. He was too scared. He wanted to watch the birds though. Humpty loved birds. He wanted to get closer to them and thats when he fell off the wall. He was detirmined to get closer to the birds without the wall. So he built a plane. But, acidents happen and his plane landed on the wall. So he had to climb up to get it. He was scared. He climbed and climbed and he felt less scared. When he got to the top. He hatched and flew. He turned into a bird.

My connection to this was in hockey. In one game, in the first period, I took a very hard hit. After that I wasn’t playing as well because I was scared to get hit that hard again. 2 shifts later I threw a big hit and I started getting less scared. I kept hitting people and become less scared to get hit. Eventually I wasn’t scared at all and I started playing very well. Thats how I became one of the best hitters on the team.

Bats Big Game Connections

Bat’s Big Game is a book written by Margaret Read MacDonald and illustrated by Eugenia Nobati. It is a story about a bat who hopps from team to team because he wants to be on the winning team. He does that until he gets caught by the two teams and kicked out of the game. I have a few connections to this book, the first one is text to self. Last year when I was playing in the kids vs parents/coaches game, the coaches started to win, so lots of players from my team started switching over to the adults team. Eventually it got out of hand and me and 5 other people where the only people left on the team. Whereas the adults team had lots of kids on it. So one of the parents stopped the game and we had to make the teams even again. Another connection I have is text to world. In the NFL, there is a player named Antonio Brown. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers didn’t make the playoffs, so Antonio stoped showing up to team meetings and requested a trade saying he wouldn’t show up for the games and practices if they didn’t trade him. So the Steelers found a team that wanted to trade for him. They had the trade set up but when Antonio found out that the team was the Buffalo Bills, which didn’t make the playoffs either, he said he wouldn’t show up again, so they finnaly found a team that wanted him and Antonio liked and traded him there. He was just like Bat, he wanted to be on a team that he thought would win. Another text to self connection I have is when I was about 5. We had a big family soccer game. When my team started to lose, I switched over to the other team and then we won. I was like Bat, I wanted to win.

The Fish Who Could Wish

The Fish Who Could Wish is a book written by John Bush and illustrated by Korky Paul. I think this book is about being wise. This fish makes many wishes for things like cars and to go skiing and all of them came true. Whatever he wanted would just happen when he wished for it. But one day he wishes that he could be like the other fishs’ in the sea, but the other fishs’ couldn’t wish so that was his last wish that came true. I really liked this story because the message is to be careful what you wish for. Because little kids are always saying stuff like “I wish I had this” and “I wish I had that” so this teaches kids so be careful what you wish for because it might just come true.

Kindness #5

Yesterday I was in McDonalds ordering food when an old lady dropped her wallet. Coins and money fell out so I helped her pick up all her stuff up. I did this because she looked like she was going to have trouble picking the stuff up. It made me feel good because I saw that it made her feel good.

Kindness #4

For my fourth act of kindness I bought my sister a squishy. I was at kids books, a store in Edgemont, and I was spending my gift card and I was going to buy a squishy when I thought that she would like one too. So I bought it for her and she really liked it. It made me feel good because it made her feel good.

Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress

Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress is a book written by Christine Baldacchino and illustrated by Isabelle Malenphant. I think this is a book about being true to yourself. Morris loves going to school. He loves painting and singing the loudest, and most of all he loves dress up time. He loves this tangerine dress that reminds him of the sun and tigers and his mothers hair. But the other kids make fun of him for wearing it. They say things like “boys can’t wear dresses” and “you can’t sit with us we don’t want to turn into a girl.” On Friday he tells his mom he has a stomach ache. When he thinks about the kids talking about him and making fun of him he actually gets a stomach ache. When he finally feels better he decides to make a painting. He paints himself on an elephant with tigers walking around him while he is on the elephant in the tangerine dress. When he goes to school the next day and asks to play with the boys and go in their spaceship, but they say “only if you take off the dress”. But he doesn’t, so he goes and builds his own spaceship with tigers an elephants on the planet that he flew to. The other boys want to come see so Morris lets them and they go to a planet that they have never been before. Then one of the girls ask if they can use the dress but Morris says that she could use it when he is done. So she says “boys don’t wear dresses.” but then Morris says, “this one does.” I think that the message of this book is being who you actually are. If your a boy and you want to wear a dress, go for it. Don’t let others tell you who should be. I think this is a really good book because of it’s message.
